Frequently Asked Questions

Q: How can I coach a team?

A: Anyone interested in coaching will need to inform AYSC (via registration form for child).  Before approval, coaches are subject to background check. 

Q: How old does my child need to be to play?
A: Children must be 5
 years old by September 1st to participate and potty trained.

Q: What does my child need in order to participate?
A: Players will need a glove. AYSC has helmets, bats, balls & catching equipment (not for t-ball) for the team to share. Recommendations: cleats, pants, face mask for softball & protection for male baseball.  

 

Q:  What is a Skills Assessment?

A: Volunteers will put players through drills and assess their skill level.  This assessment will be for Pee Wee, Jr./Sr. Softball & Baseball.

Q: Where will the games be held at?
A: T-ball & Pee Wee games will be held at Gilbert Park in Altamont.  Little League & Girls Softball will hold home games at Gilbert Park & others in surrounding towns.  

Q: When will practices start?
A: A draft will be held on the week of April 7th, give the coach time to contact all players. Coach's will schedule practice.  

Q: When will games be played?

A: T-ball will be scheduled for Saturday mornings.  Pee Wee will be scheduled for Tuesday's & Wednesday's. Baseball & Softball will be scheduled on Monday's & Thursday's. 

Q: Does my child have to attend an Altamont school to play?

A: No, we allow players from surrounding towns to participate.

Q: Can I request my child to play on the same team as a friend?

A: AYSC cannot accommodate all requests; same household family members have first priority.

Q: If we missed the cut off, can we still sign up?

Yes, but there will be an additional fee $15 to pay for a set-up fee of a uniform.  No additional registration will be accepted once the season starts.  

Q: Where can I find a copy of my team schedule?

A: Your coach is responsible for giving you a schedule.  The schedule can also be found on AYSC Facebook page.
